New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions are a pain. This year I told myself that I wasn’t going to make any resolutions because I thought I would break all of them January 2nd. Then my roommate, friends, and family started making them and I started hearing all these great ideas. So of course, I had to make my own list and so far I haven’t broken any!

  1. Save all 5 dollar bills in a jar.

This one has been pretty easy so far. I have a cute little jar on my desk that has exactly one five dollar bill in it so far. Since I am in college I use my meal plan and my debit card to pay for most things so when I use cash it is for special occasions. My plan is that I save 5 dollar bills every semester and when the semester is over and when finals are over I can treat myself to something nice. I’ll update y’all on what I spend my money on in a future post!

2. Drink more water.

I despise water and I have no idea why. However, water has many benefits and its a huge portion of the human body. So I thought I should drink more and get over the taste. I have been putting fresh fruit and berries in my water bottles and not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it actually tastes really good. I start my day out with 16 ounces of plain water than fill my bottle with fruit and water and have that for my classes. Then at the end of the day I refill my bottle and by the time I go to bed I have had a ton of water.

By drinking more water I have noticed clearer skin and I have more energy through out the day. I also have lost weight and I couldn’t be more happy about that!

3. Eat more whole foods.

I love food and who doesn’t?! Being in college and living in a dorm, it is hard to have whole foods only in my mini fridge that I share with my roommate. Although it is a big struggle I have been doing better with this. I can’t always have whole foods but I am having more than I did in 2015. I keep sweet potatoes on hand to microwave for breakfast, I have spinach and other salad toppings in my fridge for lunch, and squash and brussel sprouts for snacks!

4. Read more books.

I haven’t read a full book since 7th grade. It’s not that I don’t like to read, I just haven’t had the opportunity to read a book that I chose. I am really excited to tell you that I have found my new favorite book! It keeps me on the edge of my seat and I always find myself reading more than I have planned. I plan to keep at this resolution by finding fun girlie books about things I love.

5. Make time for Jesus everyday.

Jesus time is hard to find time for in college life, but it shouldn’t ever be! I have started having time with Jesus outside and just writing out my prayers so I don’t get distracted. I think going outside before going to bed gives me a better setting for a more intimate conversation with Jesus.

6. Meatless Mondays.

I chose to do meatless Mondays because I want to do my part to help the sustainability of the planet. I want to help the planet so it can have a low carbon count for the future generations. Also, I love veggies so I had no problem making this a part of my weekly schedule.

7. Go to gym 5 times a week.

I love the gym so this has been very easy for me. I think that going to the gym in the morning gives me energy for the rest of the day. I also love the feeling I get after I am done at the gym. I usually start with a little cardio and go into a hard concentrated muscle group exercise. If you would like to see a post about my fitness routine just leave me a comment below!
